Editing - Planning

Since our AS course alot had changed, especially with the software that we are now using. Last term we edited all our films on an Apple Mac with Final Cut Pro but this year due to uncontrollable circumstances we are now using Adobe Premiere Pro, due to this change it has made it alot harder for us to edit and get used to the changes. In order to learn how to use the new editing software we had a couple of lessons with an expert who uses Adobe Premiere regularly to teach us tips and tricks on how to effectively use the program. This was all new to us so it took some time before everyone knew what they were doing and could produce good quality films. Eventually it got easier and we were able to figure out all the little things it took for us to add intertitles, add music and footage at the same time etc. By doing all this it has benefited us as it gives us an additional thing to put on our C.Vs that we can edit in Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro.

First draft feedback

Once everyone had completed a rough draft of their trailers we all watched each others films in lesson to give feedback on what we liked and what we thought they could improve on.

After viewing our film we got feed back from our class mates on what they thought went well:
- They liked the soundtracks over the trailer and felt that they worked well to fit the genre, also the pace of it and the crescendo at the end.
- They said that they liked the animated intertitles during the trailer which helps narrate it as we don't use much dialogue in the trailer to keep it mysterious.
- They liked the pace of the editing with the quick cuts as it made it feel like a psychological thriller.

Then these were the criticisms:
- The overall trailer looked like a film opening.
- They wanted us to add more diegetic sound
- Add more footage to make the main character Owen look more aggressive and controlling.

After receiving the feed back we have since gone back to make changes to adding more diegetic sound but we didn't want to add too much as we felt it kept it mysterious and that the intertitles narrated it well, we are have made our footage of Owen look more controlling and added extra footage to help this and tried to correct our trailer from looking too much like a film opening.
