Ideas for posters - Planning

I like these 2 posters as ideas because both of them contain 3 characters on them, this is similar to our film as it includes 3 main characters. The shots of the people are close ups which allows the audience to create their own judgement on each character, for example on the left (Before i go to sleep) the 3 characters are all very neutral looking which means anyone looking at the poster can decide for themselves who potentially could be the villain and victim. Although saying this the woman in the middle has blue eyes which could suggest she is the "damsel in distress" and the two men have darker coloured eyes which could suggest they are the antagonists in the film. The poster on the right (After life) shows the characters with different feelings as the male figure on the far right looks to be in danger or worried while the female looks quite calm, the man in the middle looks somewhat neutral but also kind of nervous as his eyes are swaying away from him which could propose that he is guilty of something. This character is also seen in the poster standing over the female in a white lab coat which in normally associated with psychopaths in thrillers and the woman in seen dressed in red which might connote that shes in danger. The text on the poster on the left is very neutral similar to the overall theme of it, this means that it doesn't give too much away and keeps the audience guessing and wanting more. However this cant be said for the poster on the right as the text is red and quite an old font which may suggest that it is violent and dark.

  1. I am glad to. See you are adding to your blog Ian. Please continue by recording changes and additions to your planning with reasons especially linked to your target audience.

  2. Research is now detailed and shows good understanding of generic conventions and also conventions of posters and film magazine covers.
Which theories could you apply to your trailer? Have you got evidence of communication between your group members? You also need to record revisions with your reasons (try to link these to target audience).
You then need to add evidence of filming and editing with reasons and analysis.
